2025: A Year in Review
- 20th January 2026
As we enter 2026, FHI 360 UK would like to take the opportunity to reflect on the achievements and milestones from 2025.
Firstly, we must acknowledge the challenges that our sector has faced in 2025 with donors reducing their ODA commitments globally. In 2026 we will all need to think innovatively and collaboratively about how to operate in this new funding landscape in order to ensure that hard-fought development gains can be protected as much as possible.
In April 2025, FHI 360 UK were recognised as the 8th largest contractor working with the FCDO (Devex, 2025). This represents a huge achievement for our UK operations, which we have been steadily building since the formal merger of FHI 360 and Konung International to form FHI 360 UK in 2022. This year we launched four programmes, and began a new partnership with UNESCO. In 2025, we also successfully closed three of our programmes and welcomed four new development practitioners onto our team.
New programmes
In 2025, FHI 360 UK commenced work on programmes in the ASEAN region, Palestine, and Nigeria.
ASEAN Health-Security Partnership (HSP): FHI 360 UK began implementation as a prime, on the five-year FCDO initiative focused on strengthening health security and improving equitable access to primary care across the eleven ASEAN member states. It addresses urgent challenges like Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), pandemic preparedness, health system resilience, and the health impacts of climate change.
Empowering Palestinian Institutions and Civil Society (EPICS): A key component of the UK Government’s support to the Palestinian Authority, working with the Palestinian Authority to build the capabilities of ministries to move towards fiscal sustainability, increased accountability and improved delivery of public services to Palestinians by reforming the core cycle of planning, budgeting and monitoring of government service delivery. Working with Tetra Tech, FHI 360 UK’s workstreams include providing Public Financial Management (PFM) expertise and leads the implementation of the programme’s Political Economy Analysis (PEA).
Nigeria Public Finance Facility (NPFF): The NPFF programme is designed to contribute to establishing a more effective and equitable tax policy and administration, and more effective public financial management for the Nigerian government. The programme aims to support Nigeria by reducing fiscal deficits, increasing tax revenue, broadening the tax base, and prioritising institutional reform. It also focuses on strengthening the capacity of Nigeria’s tax administration and improving its ability to use analysis and evidence in shaping tax policy. Working with Tetra Tech, FHI 360 UK’s workstreams include providing Public Financial Management expertise and leads the implementation of the programme’s Political Economy Analysis.
UNESCO’s Out-Of-School-Youth / Early School Leavers Brochure and Briefing Research: In 2025, FHI 360 UK partnered with UNESCO to deliver a research project looking at the issue of youth that are not in education, employment or training, and the intersections of disability and gender, low employability, migration, digital innovation, innovative financing, and early warning systems. The project conducted country-specific deep dives in Cambodia, Thailand, Lao PDR, Viet Nam, and Indonesia, identifying emerging trends, promising practices, and implementation challenges. The project developed brochures and briefing notes to summarise findings and distil practical recommendations for decision-makers and practitioners.
Staff Updates
In 2025, FHI 360 UK welcomed four new staff members! We were delighted to welcome back, Muhammad Irfan, to the role of Project Manager from finishing his MA at the University of Sussex. On our Health-Security Partnership (HSP) programme we welcomed Robert Rosenthal to the role of Senior Programme Leader, Anastasia Susanto to the role of Regional Grants and Impact Lead, and Merlinda Embon to the role of Project Officer. In 2025, we also welcomed numerous new consultants onto our new programmes; we would like to celebrate the contributions and achievements of all our consultants to our programmes past, present and future.
We would also like to wish a sincere farewell to Stephen Brady, our Managing Director and Strategic Advisor, who retired in December. Thank you for your leadership these past years, and we wish you a great retirement ahead!
We wish to give a special thank you to the entire FHI 360 UK team, for their incredible work last year. We look forward to reaching new milestones and achievements together in the New Year.
From the team at FHI 360 UK, we hope you had a happy holiday period, and a Happy New Year.
