UK Introduces the ASEAN-UK Health Security Partnership Programme (HSP) with Introduction Session in Lao PDR to Strengthen Health Security Efforts
- 11th September 2025
The United Kingdom, in collaboration with the consortia led by FHI 360 UK, introduced the ASEAN-UK Health Security Partnership (HSP) in Lao PDR during an Introduction Session and Technical Assistance clinic held today at the Lao Plaza Hotel in Vientiane.
The HSP programme, funded by the UK Government, is a five-year initiative aimed at strengthening regional health security by supporting ASEAN Member States in preventing, detecting, and responding to public health threats. The programme directly contributes to the ASEAN-UK Plan of Action (2022) and aligns with the ASEAN Health Cluster priorities.
The event brought together senior officials, health experts, and stakeholders from national health institutions and civil society organisations (CSOs) to share the programme’s objectives and identify areas for collaboration in the Lao context. A key feature of the event was a Technical Assistance (TA) Clinic offering practical guidance to Lao-based CSOs and autonomous government bodies on how to engage with the HSP, including how to access technical support and funding.
Participants in the session gained early insight into the current and upcoming funding windows, eligibility requirements, and practical steps to access support under the HSP. The TA Clinic provided attendees with hands-on guidance to strengthen their submissions and align them with the programme’s goals.
This event represents the first in a series of country-level engagements under the ASEAN-UK Health Security Partnership, setting the foundation for deeper collaboration between Lao PDR’s public health community and UK partners.
