Health

From strengthening health systems to preventing infectious disease, we work with local partners to create and deliver innovative programmes that advance community well-being.

Our teams seek first to understand what people need to be well, generating the evidence necessary to address their health challenges. Building on what we learn, we implement and share strategies to advance health solutions, expand access to care and promote healthy behaviours.

Our initiatives bring together local and scientific experts on a wide range of topics, from family planning to mental health to tuberculosis, malaria, and HIV. Together, we are tackling the world’s most pressing health issues to ensure that good health is within reach for all.

Education

We work to ensure that every child has equitable access to quality education that prepares them to shape their lives and communities for the better. From individual classrooms to national systems and in both school and community settings, our work reaches millions of children and young people around the world.

Using our extensive partnerships and expertise, we find ways to drive measurable growth for all students, even in times of emergency or crisis. Alongside local partners, we share research and programmatic support to improve learning opportunities and outcomes from early childhood to adulthood.

Our projects create effective, safe and inclusive learning environments by championing data-driven decision-making, reading and math initiatives, educator support, wraparound services for students, and more. Governance and PFM

We recognise that good governance is essential to achieve positive developmental outcomes across all sectors. We also understand that good governance solutions are multi-faceted and require the participation and buy-in of many actors, some with contradictory objectives. FHI 360 brings an approach and team that truly appreciates the inherent complexities of governance reform.

Our approach to governance reform is based upon thorough analysis, allowing an understanding of what is achievable given each situation’s particular circumstances. This approach incorporates in-depth political economy analysis and considered factors relating to local traditions, culture, social norms, ecology, conflict, livelihoods, and issues such as gender, age, religion, indignity, and social exclusion.

We understand that sustainable change in governance is a long-term investment and inherently incremental. Therefore, we don’t provide off-the-shelf solutions when context-specific approaches are warranted. We understand that perfection is a long-term objective, and search for solutions that are feasible and practical for a particular context. We believe the best reforms are developed jointly with our counterparts through a process that leads them to finding their own solutions.

Economic Opportunity

Challenges like poverty, underemployment and financial instability jeopardise safety and well-being for communities around the world. We help people — particularly women, young people and other historically marginalised groups — create better futures for themselves and contribute to strong economies.

As a partner in economic development, we provide businesses, government partners, and communities with technical support, tailored labour market analysis, and data-driven guidance. Nutrition and Food Security

One or more forms of malnutrition affect every country, jeopardising health and well-being for millions of people worldwide. Through research, innovation and advocacy, FHI 360 develops evidence-based programmes and public policies to improve nutrition for all.

Access to safe, sufficient and nutritious food is essential for communities to keep children healthy, prevent disease, promote learning and boost economic growth. Through community partnerships, policy advocacy and technical assistance, we support global and country efforts to ensure good nutrition in times of crisis and every day.

Globally, we’re advancing nutrition research, promoting food security and healthy habits, and preventing malnutrition for those most affected, including women, infants and children.

Humanitarian Response

When communities face instability, emergencies, or violent conflict, FHI 360 stands up humanitarian solutions that address urgent needs and restore long-term, lifesaving services for all. Through an integrated approach, FHI 360 provides technical expertise and direct assistance in health, nutrition, protection, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) to improve the health and well-being of people affected by crisis.

With deep experience and partnerships around the world, FHI 360 draws from both local and global expertise to bring crucial aid to communities facing crisis. Building on existing strengths, we develop and implement strategies to help people stay safe, nourished and healthy.

FHI 360’s humanitarian response teams and local partners reach and meet the needs of those who face heightened risk, including women and children, elderly people, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ people, and people who have been displaced. Together, we’re making an impact where support is needed most, saving lives today and building resilience for a more secure tomorrow.
